I wear a tie whenever I step outside of my house; frankly, I don't feel dressed without one! Over the years I've amassed a bunch, even a few bow ties (!), ranging in style from the 1920s to the present day, but very few "novelty" ones as you've represented here, fun as they are... They are indeed a "subtle art which belies a whole life philosophy" which is a terrific basis for the bond between father and son. Cool essay!
